Diets don't work...better diets do!
On that note, here are 5 super easy strategies that you can start implementing today to help speed up fat loss...
1. Cut out the sugar!
When you have an increased insulin spike from a meal your body goes into fat storage mode. Just remember this...more sugar = more insulin = more body fat!
2. Reduce your overall calories.
All that being said counting calories is totally flawed and may even be sabotaging your weight loss. An easy strategy to cut back on the calories is to simply reduce that size of your meals. Slowly start cutting back. You don't need to cut your meal size in half, just take a little less of everything. If you are not seeing any results, cut back a little more!
3. Cut back on the carbs...especially processed.
Processed carbohydrates have very little fiber and nutrients. We are talking cereals, breads, pasta, bagels, you get the idea. These types of carbs have a much higher glycemic index than unprocessed carbs and therefore will induce a similar response as sugar.
While most, but not everyone, probably needs to reduce (not eliminate) their carb intake, a simple strategy to begin with is to switch every processed carb you eat for a non-processed carb. Instead of white bread with your supper, have a baked yam!
4. Skip a meal.
The best meal to skip would be breakfast. This is because your body is in fat burning mode from the nights fast. Give it a try! You do not need to do it everyday but you can if you want. I do and absolutely love it.
Skipping a meal is not for everyone, but give it a try and see how you feel. If you feel like you want to jump down your co-workers throat...it may not be for you.
5. Eat more protein.
A second reason is that protein helps build and/or maintain lean muscle mass. Muscles burn calories. The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn.
Increasing your protein in your diet is one of the simplest ways to help kick start fat loss. Try eating a couple extra eggs with breakfast. Or maybe a second chicken breast with dinner.
Start implementing a few, or better yet all, of these strategies today! They are simple and super effective. Fat loss does not need to be confusing or frustrating. With a game plan, time, and commitment, you can finally get lean again!
