To think about ways that I can improve my nutrition, my business, my life, and how to get to my goal of helping 100,000 people faster!
Well here is what I came up with...
My idol growing up said it best "if your not trying to get better you are allowing yourself to become worse"
That was a quote that Michael Jordan said in the documentary Michael Jordan to The Max. I saw it when I was about 10 and I have never forgotten it.
I think those words are amazing powerful and they can be associated with all aspects of our lives. Our nutrition, fitness, relationships, careers, in everything that we do we should push ourselves to improve!
Well here are 5 things that I am going to implement or improve...if I haven't already.
1. Be a Vegetarian...Whaaat?!
Ok I whole heartedly believe that animal proteins and fats are an essential part of our diets. They "feed" our bodies nutrients that we just can't get from other sources. After all there is more to nutrition then simply protein, fats, and carbs.
So how can I be a vegetarian if these animal foods are so essential?
This is my plan...be a vegetarian, or at least my version of one, during the day and at night consume animal proteins and fats.
What this will look like for my is eggs and piece of fruit for first meal, a smoothie or oatmeal with vegetarian protein powder for my second, then animal based protein for my third meal. Seem reasonable right? Not so bad after all?
Well for one, I want to consume only grass-fed, free-range meats (both for my health and the environment...more in a second) and this makes this process much easier. And two, who said eating a little more plant based foods was a bad thing?
2. Be More Environmentally Conscious.
So why not cowboy up and actually start really making good choices?
Back to the meat thing...
Conventionally raised meats, which in case you were wondering is feed lot beef and pork, factory farmed chicken, etc., create a huge environmental problem. The waste, chemicals and hormones, and other by-products, are far worse for the planet, and your health, when compared to a free-range animal.
Now some vegetarian processes like mass agriculture for grains is also not good. So vegetarians are not off the hook either!
In fact agriculture has been pretty much recognized as the biggest environmental "failure" of man kind. But we are in the thick of it now.
However since I am not a huge grain eater by any stretch I can somewhat say I am doing my part to avoid this problem.
Another simple change is bottled water. Did you know that on average 2.5 million bottles are thrown away every minute. That is nuts!!
And what a simple solution. Just stop buying and drinking bottled water. Sometime you might be in a pinch at an airport or perhaps not too sure about water in a different country and thats cool, but in our everyday lives why don't we just stop?!
Same can be said for those damn Kuerig coffee cups...not a fan!
I am not trying to come across as a tree hugger, I ain't trading my truck for a Smart Car anytime soon, but why shouldn't we all try to make little changes that can have huge impacts.
3. Keep A Gratitude Journal.
Well this weekend both my wife and I are going to pick up some journals and begin!
Begin thinking about the little things we are grateful for. The kind of things that we take for granted every single day. A sunny day, nice coffee in the morning, even the warmth from our furnace on a cold Canadian day.
It is so easy to get caught up in the rat race of the North American life that we can lose sight of what's important!
4. Focus On The Straight Line to Success.
Thanks by the way for everyone that has supported me so far...I truly appreciate it!
Along this journey I have had a million and one ideas of ways that I can reach out and help people achieve their nutrition, health, and even overall life goals. Well this is not the fastest way to success.
I am not just talking financial success. I am talking about my efficiency to help others, and the quality of products and services that I kick out.
What is the fastest way to go from A to B? A straight line!
But it is so easy to take turns and dips because of all these different ideas and concepts. Well no more! I am going to focus on just or two major projects at any one time and I will not move onto something else until a certain project is complete.
This is going to make a huge difference.
5. Never Criticize or Complain.
Why should we criticize and complain? It is always about somebody or something else but there are two major problems with this...
One, you and only you manufacture your life. Nobody else. Your life is the product of all the decisions you have made to date and to blame something on somebody else for something is taking the easy way out.
We all need to grab ownership of our decisions and our lives. Nobody is going to do things for you. I can give you a nutrition program and motivate, assist, and coach you along the way but I can't buy your groceries and cook all your meals for you.
And two, instead of criticizing someone or complaining about a circumstance try understanding someones point of view?
It can be so easy to blame someone for something but perhaps there is an important message hidden away. Instead of creating conflict why don't we try to understand someone else's perspective? Hey you just may have a breakthrough or learn a little something?
Live Your Best Life!
