With the trees starting to change color and sunsets coming earlier, the opportunity to capture some incredible beauty in the mountains surrounding our lovely metropolis has never been better. Add to it the fact that my beautiful and resourceful wife was able to find a smoking deal on a super cool baby hiking carrier and it all adds up to some great times as we settle in to Fall.
Joel and I have signed up to take our PNC level 1 nutrition certification with Precision Nutrition starting in mid September. Precision is a really cool company that has incredible content on nutrition and fitness. I am really stoked to continue to learn more about the science of nutrition and how that can help people live healthier, happier lives!
Continuing to get stronger
Those of you who know me personally know that I love the gym. I love to put my head down and pound through a tough legs workout or the feeling of accomplishment following a hard hitting upper workout. I get fired up at the thought of putting up a new personal best on squats, deads or bench. I also get to work out with one of my best buddies -- who is an animal in the gym and one of the mentally toughest guys I know. This last couple of weeks Joel and I have set out to focus on improving our squat and my goal is to hit a PB of 350 lbs by the end of the week and 400 lbs by the end of the month. Ambitious to say the least but it takes nothing extra to choose ambitious goals over moderate ones, so I'm going for it!
I've been keeping track of my progress so you might see another blog post on this!
With a 14 month old at home it can be tough to get outside if you have a rainy or dreary fall day. On days like that I'm most looking forward to getting to spend some quality time with my son, chasing him around the house, letting him show me a thing or two on the guitar, building forts and making a mess! This little guy ensures that I never lack for cardio, chasing him around the kitchen island or doing our variation of sled pushes with Dax in the laundry basket and Dad pushing him from one side of the living room to the other. I'm so excited to watch him continue to grow in the coming months.
