The choices you make not only effect your health but the health of your environment. Many of us just go through the motions of life day by day but becoming aware of your decisions can have a humungous impact.
Which ones are the cheapest? What is the best bang for buck? Perhaps you grab the first bag you see?
These are common thoughts, if any, that run through most peoples minds when they are making a food purchase. But what if that all changed? What if we all made conscious decisions about every single detail in our lives?
What if you walked into a grocery store and thought. “Where are the organic apples? Which apples are grown locally? Am I supporting a local farmer or a large corporation?”
These simple conscious decisions will not only make a significant impact on your health but they will also make a drastic impact on the state of our planet.
Imagine that every single food purchase you made you thought of the quality of that food. You would seek out organic options when possible. You wouldn’t buy anything if you couldn't pronounce the ingredients. Does it have loads of sugar? If so it isn’t going to go into your cart.
If you began thinking consciously about these sorts of things your health will take a turn for the better. Now I am not necessarily talking about weight loss here, although the same concepts would apply, I am talking about improving the quality of your overall health.
What if you only ate organic produce, free-range meats, and non-GMO products? I think we can all agree that your health would significantly improve.
The elimination of pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, and many other toxins and chemicals is a huge step towards achieving optimal health. Something we all want.
Now I get it. It can be hard to make these kinds of changes. After all it is not like you instantly feel amazing (although never say never). These are changes that over a long period of time are going to improve the quality of your life.
The point I am trying to make is to simply be conscious. Next time you grab a fast food burger don't just grab it because you are in a hurry or because it stimulates your taste buds for a matter of seconds.
If you are going to eat that burger understand that you are making a personal decision to eat something that is not good for your health. Understand the potential consequences. If you begin doing this on a regular basis I guarantee you that you will start making better choices when it comes to food and in turn your body will thank you!
And these choices can go far beyond foods. How about on your skin and your hair? Cleaning products? What about clothes? The list goes on and on.
Be conscious, be aware, be in the moment. This simple step will change your life!
